ADI's motor control system based on ADSP-CM408

Design introduction

For motor control systems, Analog Devices is able to offer complete solutions covering all critical devices in the signal chain, including analog-to-digital/digital-to-analog converters, amplifiers, embedded processors, iCoupler® digital isolators, and power management devices. These high-performance devices and increased system integration help to achieve an updated topology design that delivers value to customers' differentiated designs.

The ADSP-CM4xx mixed-signal control processor features an ARM Cortex M4 processor core with integrated precision ADCs, digital accelerators and filters, SRAM and flash memory, and a rich set of peripherals. The ADSP-CM4xx processor is ideal for a wide range of embedded applications requiring high performance real-time control and analog conversion.

CM408 MBD MoTIon Control includes EVM Oscar-Skylight MoTIon Control EVM (PMSM FOC Control Power Backplane) and ADI M4 Control Card (ADSP-CM408 Control Core Board). The design fully considers the industrial isolation requirements and is completely isolated. CAN, RS-485, RS-232, Ethernet communication interface and complete isolation of the control part and high voltage power part.

The software part adopts MBD (Model-based design), uses Matlab & Simulink tools to model the motor control, and automatically generates control part of the core code, which can greatly accelerate the development process of the servo motor control software, and provide perfect and reliable code. In the early stages of development, engineers can focus more on the algorithm itself than on complex coding and code modification processes to accelerate product innovation and new technology development.

Complete ADSP - CM408F minimum system, Boot Switch, clock and reset circuit

4 LEDs and 3 buttons for easy program debugging

Isolated communication interface: 2 CAN interfaces, 1 RS-232, 1 RS-485 interface

USB OTG interface, a 100 M Ethernet interface

PWM and ADC lead-out for testing motor control signals

2-channel SINC filter input interface for direct connection to the ADUM74XX family of sigma-delta isolated ADCs

The pins required for motor control such as TImer and CNT are all taken out with 2.54 pins, which is convenient for customers to connect their own power boards.

All control and feedback signals are isolated using ADI high speed magnetic isolation ICs

The power drive part adopts Fairchild FSBB20CH60C 600V / 20A intelligent power module with OCP \ LVO

Multi-phase current sampling with current sampling through sigma-delta ADC and ADSP-CM408 built-in SINC filter, or through Hall-in current sensor and ADSP-CM408 built-in 16bit ADC sampling

Multiple sensor interfaces with Hall sensor interface, rotary encoder interface, and resolver interface (implemented by the AD2S1210) for connecting sensors to obtain motor speed and position signals

This battery is for replacing Lead-Acid Battery, it has the standard appearance and size as well as capacity, but longer cycle life and high energy and good charge and discharge performance.

Capacity:100AH/150AH/180AH/200AH/250AH. 

Voltage:12.8V, cycle life is more than 2000 times, also can customize the capacity.
