Will you buy an air purifier? About 15% of the net is unqualified

The air purifier is a common household appliance designed to remove particulate matter, gaseous pollutants, and microorganisms from the air. Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Quality Supervision Bureau released the results of its quality inspection on air purifiers. A total of 55 batches were tested, and only 47 passed, resulting in an overall pass rate of 85.5%. The main issues found were related to four key areas: product labeling and instructions, input power and current, power connection and external wiring, and noise levels. The input power and current test checks whether the actual power consumption matches the rated value under normal operating conditions. If the power is too high, it can cause overheating of the wiring and reduce insulation performance, potentially leading to safety hazards. If it's too low, it may indicate exaggerated performance claims, which could affect the real-world effectiveness of the device. In this inspection, three products failed this test. The power connection and external cord evaluation ensures that the appliance has a secure and safe method of connecting to the power supply. Three units failed this part of the test, raising concerns about their electrical safety. Regarding noise, the standard allows a maximum tolerance of 3dB(A) between the measured and nominal values. One product was found to exceed this limit, with a nominal noise level of 60dB(A) but a measured level of 65dB(A), which is more than the allowed difference. There are various types of air purifiers available, each suited for different environments and needs. For example, if you have elderly family members or children, choosing a model with microbial removal capabilities is advisable. In newly renovated homes, a unit that targets gaseous pollutants like VOCs would be most effective. If your home is near a busy road or in an area with poor air quality, a purifier that removes fine particles (PM2.5) is recommended. In humid environments, look for models with antibacterial and mold-resistant features. If you have pets, opt for a purifier that effectively captures allergens. For complex or seasonal pollution, a multi-functional unit that handles particulates, gases, and allergens is ideal. In addition to core functions, consider auxiliary features such as filter replacement reminders, built-in humidification, air quality sensors, mobile app control, and reliable after-sales support. These extras can greatly enhance user experience and long-term satisfaction. Always check the product specifications and choose one that best fits your living conditions and health needs.
