Therefore, how to improve the cost performance and competitiveness of solid-state lighting products is the main point of consideration for all LED-related industries today.
In terms of luminous efficiency, incandescent lamps are less than 20 lm/W. Therefore, many countries in the world have established production cut-off and banned specifications for incandescent lamps. In addition, although fluorescent lamps have luminous efficiencies of 100 lm/W, it is estimated that by 2016, the luminous efficiency of fluorescent lamps will not increase or change significantly. In contrast, the luminous efficiency of commercially available LED components is now comparable to that of fluorescent lamps, and the performance will continue to increase. With the development of LED technology and the improvement of cost performance, the proportion of solid-state lighting in the lighting market will increase year by year. The market estimates that the global LED lighting market will reach 5.3 billion US dollars by 2012, which means that LED lighting will account for 3.7%, not only in 2011 and 2012, but also will grow by 40%. The scale will grow 2.5 times compared to 2009. Therefore, the application of LEDs in general lighting products is more energy-efficient, and its future market development is worth looking forward to. At present, the price of LED lighting is still about 10 times away from the target set by the US Department of Energy. Therefore, how to improve the efficiency and cost performance of LED lamps is the key.
