One of the applications of the new solution is to embed real-time cognitive analysis into the industrial product inspection process to automate quality control. ABB's system is responsible for capturing real-time product images and analyzing them through IBM's IoT cognitive computing technology to quickly identify substandard products.

The solution alerts producers to critical faults that are unrecognizable to the eye during the product component assembly process, allowing quality control experts to quickly intervene. This increases production line throughput while increasing production accuracy and product consistency, helping manufacturers avoid costly product recalls and lost reputation.

In the smart grid space, the new solution helps customers optimize operations and maintain smart grids by extracting historical and weather data, predicting supply-side and demand-side models. Temperature, light and wind speed forecasts will be used to predict electricity consumption needs and help customers determine the best power load management and real-time electricity prices.

ABB Group CEO Shi Bifu told Xinhua News Agency that the new solution will provide many opportunities, especially in the energy transition. By increasing investment in renewable energy and integrating it into the smart grid, it is expected to generate $7 trillion in output over the next 25 years.
