Pet dog wireless sensing interaction system based on AVR kernel
**I. Project Overview**
**1.1 Introduction**
Environmental protection, as defined on Wikipedia, can be categorized into three main areas: the preservation of the natural environment, the safeguarding of the human living environment, and the protection of life on Earth. When it comes to protecting the planet’s living beings, fostering a harmonious relationship between humans and animals becomes essential.
Dogs, being one of the closest animals to humans, bring joy, companionship, and convenience to our lives. However, many dog owners face challenges in understanding their pets’ true emotions and behaviors. This often leads to miscommunication or neglect. To address this issue, we have developed an AVR-based wireless sensing interaction system for pet dogs. The goal is to help dog owners better understand their pets, strengthen emotional bonds, and promote a more harmonious coexistence between humans and animals.
**1.2 Project Background / Motivation**
In today’s society, pets have become an integral part of daily life. In China alone, the number of pets has surpassed 100 million, with one pet per three families. Pets are no longer just working animals; they have become cherished members of the family. However, as the pet population grows, several problems have emerged. There is a decline in the mental well-being and health of pets, an increase in stray animals, and disturbing videos of animal cruelty have surfaced online. These issues stem from a lack of understanding of pets’ psychological states, leading to insufficient care and attention.
Additionally, when owners are away, they often worry about their pets’ well-being. Without proper monitoring, accidents can occur at home. Dogs, as higher mammals, experience emotions similar to humans, but they cannot express them through words. For people without specialized knowledge, these behaviors may go unnoticed. However, dogs do communicate through clear behavioral cues that can be interpreted with the right tools.
To raise awareness and provide a practical solution, we have integrated the current popular platform—Weibo—with our AVR-based wireless sensing system. This project aims to improve the way people interact with their pets, ensuring better care and promoting a more compassionate relationship between humans and animals.
**1.3 Project Feasibility Analysis**
After conducting a preliminary feasibility study, we have identified the following key aspects:
1. **Animal Behavioral Feasibility**: Animal behavior studies focus on how animals interact with their environment and other organisms. Topics include communication, emotion expression, social behavior, learning, and reproduction. Dogs, as highly social animals, exhibit clear behavioral patterns that have been extensively studied due to their close relationship with humans. Our team has collaborated with the Institute of Psychology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which has provided valuable research materials and support. Based on their input, we wrote an article titled “An Overview of Animal Behavior Analysis†(see Appendix), which serves as a reference for designing our system.
2. **Electronic Engineering Feasibility**: With the rapid advancement of microelectronics, embedded wireless modules now offer low power consumption, affordability, and compact size. MEMS-based three-axis accelerometers provide high sensitivity, making them ideal for tracking a dog’s movements. The wireless sensor nodes used in our system are small—occupying less than 8 square centimeters—which ensures comfort and ease of use for the pet.
3. **Market Feasibility**: The estimated physical cost of the project is around 300 yuan. Given the large pet population in China—over 100 million—and the growing pet market, there is significant potential for success. Moreover, this project is the first of its kind both domestically and internationally, offering unique innovation. Its practicality, originality, and user-friendly design make it appealing to a wide range of pet owners, creating a strong market demand.
