However, because the product is so common and widely used, I didn't go into much detail when explaining terminal connectors in the past. Recently, I came across an article written by a colleague that provided a comprehensive overview of the general structure of terminal connectors, and I found it very informative. I'd like to share it with you here. This colleague's article mainly explained several key components of a terminal connector: the housing, the base, the conductive parts, and the circuit identification features. The housing, typically made of plastic, serves as the main structural component of the connector. It holds the contact parts in place, ensuring they remain secure and stable. Additionally, the housing provides protection against dust, dirt, and moisture. High-quality connectors often use V0-grade plastic for better insulation and safety. The housing can accommodate both pin-type and socket-type conductive parts, which are responsible for connecting wires from one side of the connector to the other—often referred to as male and female contacts. Next, the base refers to the part of the connector that includes solder pins, allowing it to be directly mounted onto a printed circuit board (PCB). Unlike the housing, which contains the internal components, the base is essentially the outer shell that houses the connection points. It plays an important role in securing the connector to the PCB and maintaining electrical integrity. Another essential part is the conductive section, which is responsible for making the electrical connection between two conductors or wires. This part allows current to flow through the connector. There are two primary types of contact parts: terminals and pins, each with different shapes and applications depending on the design and usage. Lastly, circuit identification is a crucial feature in many terminal connectors. Since connectors often have multiple pins, it's important for users to easily identify which pin corresponds to which circuit. Super commonly uses two methods for this: either a label plate or direct printing on the terminal itself. Both options help users quickly and accurately locate the correct pin, improving usability and reducing errors during installation. By understanding these components, users can make more informed choices and ensure proper functionality in their electrical systems.
