Toshiba Introduces Gate Drive Optocoupler with 2.5A Peak Output Current in Low Height Package
Toshiba's Storage and Electronic Components Solutions Corporation has recently introduced the TLP5832 gate drive optocoupler, a compact SO8L package device designed for direct driving of intermediate IGBTs. This new component offers a peak output current of 2.5A and is set to begin shipping soon. The SO8L package is approximately 54% smaller than Toshiba's previous SDIP6 and DIP8 (LF1 option) packages, making it ideal for applications where board space and height are limited. Despite its reduced size, the IC maintains a creepage distance of at least 8mm and ensures high isolation performance, which is essential for industrial and power electronics applications.
The TLP5832 also guarantees consistent propagation delay and skew across the full operating temperature range from -40°C to +110°C. This stability allows engineers to optimize inverter designs by minimizing temperature margins, resulting in more efficient and reliable systems.
According to Gartner's latest market report, based on sales data from 2015 and 2016, Toshiba remains one of the leading manufacturers of optocouplers. In fiscal year 2016, Toshiba's optocoupler products accounted for 23% of the global market share, highlighting the company’s strong presence in this sector.
