Application of S1000+ in 500KV UAV High Voltage Tower Inspection

In recent years, with the accelerating pace of China's power development, China's power grid has developed rapidly. The country has formed six large inter-provincial regional power grids in Northeast China, North China, Central China, East China, Northwest China and South China. According to relevant data, China's annual investment in the power industry is about 100 billion yuan, of which hardware facilities account for 73%. How to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power grid is related to social stability and economic development.

At present, the inspection methods of transmission lines are mainly: ground manual visual inspection, helicopter inspection and drone inspection. Among them, the inspection of the drones is divided into fixed-wing inspections, multi-rotor inspections, and unmanned helicopter inspections.

According to the distribution of the inspection line, it is decided to use the multi-rotor UAV to assist the operation. The advantages are as follows:

1) Relative to unmanned helicopters, multi-rotor operation is simple and low cost;
2) Relative to the fixed-wing UAV, the multi-rotor UAV can adjust the flight speed as needed, and is not restricted by the take-off landing site;
3) The multi-rotor UAV itself has a large flying load, and it is flexible in patrol inspection and can be stably hovered, which is very suitable for inspection of electric tower connecting parts.

The inspection objects can be classified into five categories: towers, grounding lines, insulators, fittings, and channels.

In mid-November 2016, Shanghai Bo Lei Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Bo Lei) was invited by a power company in Zhejiang Province to conduct inspections on a 500kV high-voltage power grid in Zhejiang Province, collecting and preserving the picture data of high-voltage electric towers. And select the parts with safety hazards.

This project adopts the product "S1000+" of Shenzhen Dajiang UAV Company (the model is foldable and transportable, with stable flight and strong anti-interference ability). It is equipped with a Sony NEX7 (23 megapixel) HD camera to close the high-voltage electric tower. Shoot in detail.

First, the basic situation

1. Inspection date: November 10th - November 13th, 2016; November 31st - December 3rd, 2016;
2. Inspection task: a 500kV high voltage line in Zhejiang Province.
3. Weather conditions for inspection: cloudy, ground wind speed 2.5 m / s.
4. Inspection equipment: DJI S1000+ drone.
5. Flight time: 1980 minutes

Second, inspection operations

Complete the inspection and shooting tasks of the 500kv line as required, and inspect 100 base towers in total, and take about 4,000 photos.

The difficulty of this inspection mission is that the tower height of the 500kV line is 80~100m. The drone needs to fly close to the high-voltage tower. The bottom of the tower has low and lush vegetation, forcing the drone from a remote location. Take off; in the process of shooting, in order to ensure the clarity of the photo, the horizontal distance of the aircraft from the tower body is 3~5m, which is undoubtedly a huge challenge for the drone flying hand and the photographer.

three. Defect discovery

After 8 days of high-intensity work by Bo Lei engineers, the field inspection of the high-voltage circuit was finally completed. Following the in-house processing process, the company needs to classify the photos and screen out the problematic photos to identify the problematic tower. A total of 51 defects were found in the inspection operation, including 9 loose nuts; 15 missing porcelain bottles; 6 missing nuts; 13 pins falling off; 6 nests; 2 other problems.

Through the unremitting efforts and meticulous work of Bo Lei inside and outside industry engineers. Finally, the inspection task of the high-voltage circuit was successfully completed, which added a new stroke to the power application of the drone. This is of great significance for the safety management of high-voltage power grids.
