Nichia has accused LCD TV manufacturers and LED lighting equipment dealers of infringing patents in the United States
LED manufacturer Nichia again filed a patent lawsuit! Nichia announced earlier that it had filed four patent infringement suits with the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on December 27, 2016, and sued several LCD TV manufacturers and LED lighting equipment dealers for defending US patents. 9,490,411, the court is requested to issue an injunction and request damages.
Nichia said that the manufacturers infringing US patent US 9,490,411 include US LCD manufacturer Vizio, LCD TV distributor TTE Technology and its parent company China LCD TV manufacturer TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings; US LED lighting distributor Lowe's Home Centers, Its related company distributors LG Sourcing, as well as many companies such as Feit Electric. Nichia has asked the court to issue an injunction against the aforementioned companies, prohibiting the sale and distribution of infringing products, and also requesting damages.
Nichia is not the first to sue the aforementioned company for infringement. Prior to March 21, 2016, Nichia had accused Vizio of infringement in the US District Court of East Texas and Central California, because Vizio TV used LED backlight modules that infringed on Japanese patents. Then in June of the same year, the East Texas District Court filed a lawsuit against the US LED lighting distributors Feit Electric, Lowe's Companies and its LG Sourcing companies; and then on August 8, 2016, in Delaware and East Texas, respectively. The District Court sued TTE Technology and its parent company TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings for the infringement of the sales and distribution of LCD TV products. The Japanese patents infringing these infringements are all US patents US 8,530,250.
This time, Nichia was targeted at US patent US 9,490,411, and again sued the aforementioned companies for infringement. As for the outcome, it is still subject to the judgment of the court.
