Oculus asynchronous space warping function officially launched

Oculus presented a new technology called Asynchronous Space Warp at the OC3 conference, which attracted a lot of attention. Today, Oculus officially updated this technology on its head-mounted devices, which allows VR games to run smoothly at half the normal frame rate.

It is reported that this new technology allows the GPU to re-insert 45 frames of new frames while the number of frames per second is 45. Moreover, this new algorithm hardly increases the burden on the CPU and GPU and guarantees the same virtual reality picture quality.

This update will reduce the Oculus Rift's companion PC hardware requirements from GTX 970 and Intel i5 to GTX 960, Intel i3. Although it seems that the decline is not obvious, compared to the current PC hardware price, the computer that meets the minimum specification is directly reduced from the $1,000 standard to $499. This technology allows the Oculus head to run on a lower-profile computer, which is very important for increasing the popularity of the Oculus Rift.
