What is Daydream
Daydream further enhances the experience of mobile devices in presenting virtual reality content. The main changes come from three aspects. In addition to Google’s own Daydream View headset, smart phone manufacturers can also develop and design their own headset, as long as they meet Google’s standards.

Why do we need Daydream
At present, although virtual reality technology is very popular, the content platform can only be described as fragmented. And Daydream was born to solve this problem, at least in the Android ecosystem. It can integrate all content, including developers, apps, games, and videos into a unified platform. No matter what the size or content, you can browse through a Hub.

Which devices support Daydream
To be compatible with Google's Daydream platform, you must first meet Google's Daydream-Ready standard.
However, there are not many devices that officially support the Daydream-Ready standard. Only Google’s own Pixel and Pixel XL are equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, which is currently the only chip certified by Daydream.
Other vendors are developing devices that are compatible with Daydream-Ready standards, including Samsung, HTC, LG, Xiaomi, Huawei, ZTE, Asus, and Alcatel, but these manufacturers have not officially announced their own equipment that meets Daydream requirements.
In addition, Daydream View also has a specially-supported Daydream controller, which is also designed by Google and allows users to interact with devices and content without the aid of a VR helmet or smartphone. This has no controller with the current Samsung Gear VR. The equipment is also one of the biggest differences.
Daydream App Support
Many third-party apps will support the Daydream platform in the future, but they have not yet been formally announced. However, Google has confirmed that it will support Daydream platform including YouTube, Google Play Movies and Google Photos.
In addition, including Netflix, HBO Go, and Hulu are also on the list of support, of course, there will be a large number of games landing Daydream platform in the future.
Time to market and price
At present, Google’s Daydream View headset and controller have begun to accept reservations at Google’s online store and are expected to officially begin shipping on November 10 for US$79 (approximately RMB533). Only dark gray version.
