Energy-saving and emission reduction is imperative to use home appliances to help you save electricity

The TV's volume is a key factor in energy consumption. The louder the volume, the more power it uses. Controlling the brightness is equally important—too high a brightness level not only increases power use but also shortens the lifespan of the TV and can harm your eyesight. There's a 60-watt difference between the brightest and darkest settings on a color TV. To protect your TV, it's best to use a dust cover, especially during summer when the temperature rises and the unit is more likely to collect dust. Dust inside the TV can cause electrical issues and increase power consumption. When you're not watching TV, avoid turning it off with just the remote control; instead, switch it off at the main power source. For refrigerators, energy saving starts with adjusting the temperature setting. In summer, set it to "4" or the highest temperature to prevent the fridge from cycling on and off too often, which saves energy. Never place hot food directly into the fridge without cooling it first. Also, wash and dry moisture-rich foods like fruits and vegetables before storing them to reduce water evaporation and ice buildup, which helps save energy. Air conditioners are major power consumers, especially in summer. Make full use of the timer function so the AC doesn’t run all night. If you’re buying a new air conditioner, consider an inverter model, which reaches the desired temperature quickly and reduces compressor cycles, thus saving energy. In summer, raising the temperature by one degree and lowering it by one degree in winter may seem insignificant, but it can significantly cut down on electricity use. Small appliances may consume less power individually, but their long usage time means their total energy consumption can add up. Proper use not only saves electricity and money but also extends their lifespan. When using a microwave oven, placing a protective film over the food helps retain moisture and saves energy. For ironing, choose a 500W or 700W thermostat iron that heats up quickly and automatically turns off when the right temperature is reached, saving energy and protecting your clothes. Clean the heating element of your electric kettle regularly to improve efficiency and extend its life. When using an electric heater, ensure the room is well-sealed to prevent heat loss, and turn it off as soon as the desired temperature is reached. Before putting dishes into a disinfection cabinet, make sure they are clean and dry. Avoid placing items that can't withstand high temperatures in the high-temperature zone, as this shortens the disinfection time and reduces power use. Place the cabinet in a dry, ventilated area, keeping it at least 30 cm away from walls. Like TVs, DVD players, CD players, and recorders should have dust covers when not in use. When charging batteries for devices like CD players, MP3s, or phones, avoid leaving them plugged in for too long, as it wastes energy and shortens battery life. Always unplug the device when not in use, even if the switch is off, as the power transformer may still draw current. Unplug the dispenser when not in use. For computers and monitors, the best way to save energy is to turn them off when not needed. If your computer has a "sleep" mode, enable it so the system enters low-power mode when idle, cutting energy use in half. Adjust the monitor’s sleep settings to activate faster. Remember to unplug the device when you're done using it.
