Consumers have been using the “Appliance Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Certification” label to determine if a product is energy-efficient. The reporter learned yesterday that the "green footprint carbon label" certification has also been introduced into the Chinese home appliance industry. The future carbon footprint certification will become an important indicator for assessing the energy efficiency of home appliances. At the same time, the introduction of this certification will also comply with the international market and increase the sales of Chinese home appliances in overseas markets.

Product carbon footprint refers to the total amount of direct and indirect greenhouse gases released by a product (or a service) throughout its life cycle. At present, Little Swan, a domestic company, has become the first company certified by the British intertek organization and has posted a “carbon footprint” green leaf label on the product to make it easier for consumers to identify when buying.

Jiang Feng, chairman of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, said that the calculation of carbon footprint emissions has been very popular in the European Union and Japan and other developed countries and regions. It is not yet popular in China. In the future, the assessment and measurement of the carbon footprint of home appliances and services will be a general trend, and the association will also promote the popularity of such certification in home appliance companies.
