How to test the viscosity of transparent adhesive tape - Database & Sql Blog Articles
I. Overview:
The peel strength tester is a specialized device used to measure the adhesive strength of transparent tapes. It is commonly referred to as a peel strength tester and is designed for use in the adhesive tape and adhesive industry. This testing machine allows for various peeling methods such as 180°, 90°, T-shaped, and floating roll tests (especially for high-strength adhesives), as well as tensile shear and splitting strength tests for different adhesive products.
II. Required Tools:
1. Peel strength tester with a clamp – can be either electronic or computerized.
2. Transparent adhesive tape.
3. Ruler – for measuring sample dimensions if needed.
4. Manual rolling roller – for applying even pressure on the tape.
5. Several clean, scratch-free steel plates – for testing surfaces.
6. Scissors – to cut the adhesive tape into proper sizes.
7. Pen and paper – for recording test results and data.
III. Operating Procedure (Standard Steps):
1. Connect the power cord to the instrument’s back panel and plug it into a single-phase AC 200–240V/50Hz power source. The printer should be connected to a 220V power supply. (LOAD1 is the first load cell interface, LOAD2 is the second.) Press the power switch to turn it on.
2. Install the upper and lower clamps and adjust the setting rings on the upper and lower limit safety switches. Use the Up or Down key to check if the automatic return position and clamp positions are set correctly to avoid collisions or damage during operation. After adjusting, make sure to tighten the setting rings securely.
3. Clamp the test specimen onto the fixture without applying any extra tension, as this could affect the accuracy of the test results.
4. Enter the parameters of the object being tested, such as number, area, gauge length, etc. Set the test parameters including test method, speed, holding force, downtime percentage, data points, and units.
5. Press the “Test†button on the PT-2000 display to start the test.
6. Once the test piece is broken or destroyed, record the displayed values and curve. You may also choose to print the results.
7. Return the clamps to their original position for the next test.
IV. Safety and Precautions:
1. Adjust the upper and lower limit safety switch settings according to the type of fixture being used. These settings vary depending on the test setup.
2. Always stay near the equipment while operating it. Ensure that the upper and lower clamps do not collide or cause damage.
3. Each test machine has different configurations and load capacities. Never overload the device.
4. This is a precision instrument. Avoid using it in environments with excessive dust or humidity, as these can damage the internal components.
5. When handing over the machine to a new operator, make sure to explain the operating procedures and safety precautions clearly.
By following these steps and precautions, users can ensure accurate and safe testing of adhesive materials, making the peel strength tester an essential tool in quality control and research laboratories.
